Some weeks ago, I joined the event Plastic op Drift in Antwerp. There were many speakers and activities to highlight the immense plastic challenge our oceans are facing today. By 2050, estimations show that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean, measured by weight. Just like we have a red line of 2 degrees Celsius for global warming, we have a red line for our oceans. Now, it is up to us to make sure that red line is not crossed.
Experts shared their points of view on the challenges and suggested ways to take action against over-consumption of plastic. There were workshops given by Anne Drake to show us how to make our own organic cosmetics. There was also an amazing exposition called Plastic Soupermarket: the re-creation of a supermarket with plastic trash found in the ocean. This really opened my eyes to the size and urgency of the plastic problem. In the middle of all this, I had a lucky run-in with Martine Prenen.
Martine is a role model for me. Her lifestyle truly respects nature. She wrote the book Be-time, which is full of tips and tricks to help us take steps toward a greener lifestyle. In a way that is fun and good for our wallet!
Sit back, relax, take a cup of tea and discover Martine's green lifestyle:
